@Sujit: No I was not but they were flying so close to us, it was for an air show. The planes are flying by so fast it was hard to get good shots. I have about 5 shots that turned out well. I had to turn this shot into sepia because when they started it was really dreary out and I couldn't work with the colors to get it the way I wanted it. I tried using Sepia and liked the results. Stay tuned during the next couple days for other shots from the event. Thanks for the comments!
@Craiger: Thanks, considering you are shooting an object flying past you at several hundred miles an hour and you are in a zoom it was tricky to get good shots.
Oh boy - precision timing on your part! They don't stay in that formation for more than a few seconds! Amazing zoom!

@Sidonie: Yes, it was harder than I thought it would be. I wanted to zoom so that I would get great shots without too much sky. I could've cropped in PP but I like to "get" the shot from the camera. My only wish was that I could've captured this well in color. The sky was very overcast and I couldn't get the colors to look the way I wanted in PP so I went with sepia tones and luckily it works.
That's an awesome shot Dawn! Reminds me of the movie Top Gun - one of my favorites! :)

@Jacqui: Yes, great movie and this event was awesome. The rumble these planes make when they fly past you gives you goosebumps. It is an amazing feeling and sight!!
@Dornbrau: Yes, these guys (one was a woman) were incredible. I missed the air show the weekend before in Tucson that featured the Blue Angels :( I was bummed out but these guys were fantastic also so it was still a great weekend.
WOW!! Amazing shot- couldn't have been easy given how fast these things travel! I think you made the right choice with the sepia. Look forward to the rest of the series!
WOW.... I have seen a lot of photographs from air shows... the fact you were able to catch this perfectly is very impressive. Can copies of this be purchased?
